Filipino alternative pop sensation Cup of Joe's two-day, sold-out concert for their sophomore album Silakbo was nothing short of spectacular.
Following the success of their concert last year, Seat Belts On, at the Kia Theater, the band has now filled the iconic Araneta Coliseum, a testament to their ever-growing fan base and their unmatched ability to deliver electrifying live performances.
The concert served as the grand roll out of Silakbo, bringing it's emotionally charged tracks to life in a night of unforgettable music. From the production, to the stunning set designs, lighting, and powerful stage performance of lead vocalists Gian Bernardino and Raphael Ridao, lead guitar Gabriel Fernandez, rhythm guitar CJ Fernandez, keyboards Xen Gareza, and drummer Elian Akia is nothing short of amazing. As the band took the stage, it was clear that this show was not just another concert, but an experience that immersed everyone in the raw emotions of the album.
The concert felt like a therapeutic journey, with Silakbo guiding us through the five stages of grief as outlined by Elisabeth Kübler-Ross. Each of the album's deeply personal tracks spoke to a different stage, taking us through moments of reflection, release, and healing. By the end of the night, it felt like a sense of relief, as if the music had helped us all move forward, together.
Silakbo Concert
But the magic didn't stop there. The concert featured surprise guest performances from some of the Philippines’ most celebrated artists—KZ Tandingan, Maki, and Moira Dela Torre—each of whom brought their own artistry to the stage.
By the end of the two-night run, Cup of Joe had solidified their place as one of the country’s most exciting bands of this generation. With Silakbo, they’ve proven that they are more than just a band—they are storytellers who know how to make their fans feel every word, every note, and every beat.
If the sold-out shows and raving reviews are any indication, Cup of Joe's future is brighter than ever. And for anyone lucky enough to experience the Silakbo concert, it was an unforgettable ride of emotions—one that will surely be remembered for years to come.
While the Manila tour may be sold out, you can still catch Cup of Joe live at their upcoming regional stops. They’ll be performing in Davao on March 22, 2025, at the SMX Convention Center, and in Cebu on March 29, 2025, at the IC3 Convention Center. It’s a great chance to experience the Silakbo tour in your city and enjoy the band’s emotionally charged performance in an intimate setting.
