After four years of anticipation, 9Works Theatrical is ready to light up the stage with the much-awaited Liwanag Sa Dilim musical, set for its grand launch in March 2025.
The production was finished in 2019 and was initially scheduled to launch the following year, but the pandemic led to its postponement.
The musical will be performed at the Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium, RCBC Plaza in Makati City.
The musical will showcase the unforgettable hits of Filipino legend rockstar Rico Blanco, honoring his artistry and highlighting the core themes of hope, resilience, and love that define his music.
Directed and written by the brilliant Robbie Guevara, the mastermind behind award-winning musicals like Once on This Island, La Cage aux Folles, Tick, Tick... Boom, and Rent, among others. Liwanag Sa Dilim promises to be an unforgettable theatrical experience.
What we can expect and especially the fans from the musical is a mix of Rico Blanco’s hit solo songs, as well as iconic tracks from Rivermaya. Among the anticipated songs are Kisapmata, Elesi, Antukan, Liwanag Sa Dilim, and many more.
The excitement for Liwanag Sa Dilim grew when, during the staging of Once on This Island in September, a surprising announcement from the cast had made the audiences excited. Kapuso Pop Rocker Anthony Rosaldo performed the titular track, Liwanag sa Dilim, alongside Kapuso Soul Balladeer Garrett Bolden and Jordan Andrews, who portrayed Agwe and the Storyteller in Once on This Island.
We can’t wait to see how the musical brings the stories to life and weaves the songs into a powerful experience. Fans are also curious about the talented cast, with many hoping Rico Blanco will be part of the performance.
