Can someone explain why Alamat hasn't yet become a national phenomenon? Alamat's Ragasa concert at the New Frontier Theater in Cubao was nothing short of spectacular.
The boy group has all the makings of a group destined for the spotlight. That's for sure. With six talented members—Taneo, Mo, Jao, Tomás, R-Ji, and Alas—each one stands out in their own way, yet they come together seamlessly to create something extraordinary.
Alamat has been in the industry for a while, and their solid fanbase is a testament to their hard work and undeniable appeal. Yet, they haven’t received the level of recognition they truly deserve, and it’s high time that changes.
ALAMAT IS NOW!
What sets Alamat apart is their unwavering commitment to being proudly Filipino. Their concept and group dynamics are as strong as their talent, and it’s inspiring how they infuse their heritage and stories into everything they do. Let’s be honest—some groups give you a clear sense of what works and what doesn’t from the moment you see them. But with Alamat, there’s no exaggeration in saying that everything about them just works. From their visuals and concepts to their unparalleled talent, the group delivers on all fronts.
Let’s be honest—one thing Filipinos prioritize in boy groups, beyond their looks, is their vocals. As a nation of singers, it’s a standard that carries weight, and Alamat proved they’ve got it all in the bag. During the concert, their vocals were nothing short of extraordinary—arguably the best among P-pop groups I’ve seen perform live. Their harmonies, stage presence, and group synergy were flawless.
The night was a showcase of individual brilliance as well. Alas with his cariño and angst in his rap performance, Mo's vocal runs stood out for their precision and artistry, leaving the audience in awe. R-Ji’s metal-inspired performance added a bold, electrifying energy that was both unexpected and exhilarating. Meanwhile, Tomás captivated with his soulful, ballad-meets-R&B voice, hitting high notes effortlessly and pouring emotion into every lyric.
Jao brought the house down with his next-level dance moves. His sharp execution and fluidity in choreography elevated the group's performance, making every routine a visual spectacle. Taneo sultry sing and dance performance, on the other hand, brought an undeniable charisma to the stage, commanding attention with his magnetic energy. His ability to tie the group’s dynamic together added cohesion and heightened the overall impact of their performance.
Taneo, Mo, Jao, Tomás, R-Ji, and Alas proved yet again that their talent is simply incomparable. Alamat deserves to be celebrated on a much larger scale, and if their performance at Ragasa is any indication, they’re more than ready to take the center stage.
Alamat is the boyband the Philippines deserves
This isn’t just an add-on or a promotional piece for Alamat, even though they graced our cover issue for November. This review comes from the perspective of an audience member who was there, fully immersed in the moment, and experiencing their artistry firsthand.
Yes, there were some minor production hiccups during the show—missed spotlights and occasional lapses in the LED screen previews. But those setbacks only served to highlight the professionalism and resilience of Alamat. The boys powered through with unwavering energy and passion, delivering a Ragasa performance that was nothing short of extraordinary.
For those who haven’t yet seen Alamat live, you’re missing out on something truly special. Their Ragasa concert was a testament to their growth, artistry, and commitment to representing Filipino culture on the P-pop stage. It’s not just a performance—it’s a celebration of identity, talent, and pure heart. Alamat is the boyband the Philippines deserves, and Filipinos should be proud to have them.
PS: I wrote this piece on my way home after the show—it was just that amazing.
