L.A. ProdHouse has announced an exciting stage adaptation of national artist Ricky Lee’s bestselling novel, Para Kay B, coming in March 2025.
In a recent Facebook post, the production house teased fans with the caption, “Kasama ka ba sa quota?” The phrase refers to Lee’s unique take on love, suggesting that happiness in romance comes with a limit—only 1 in 5 people will find true satisfaction in their love lives. "Me quota ang pag- ibig. Sa bawat limang umiibig, isa lang ang magiging maligaya."
Eljay Castro Deldoc, known for his work as a writer, director, and actor, has adapted the novel for the stage, bringing Lee’s captivating narratives to life. The play will be brought to the stage under the creative direction of director-producer Yong Tapang.
Both Deldoc and Tapang have announced via social media that auditions for the production will be opening soon.
Para kay B
Para Kay B brings together five different stories about life and love, highlighting the fact that not everyone gets a happy ending. The narrator, Lucas, tells the tales of Irene, Sandra, Erica, Ester, and Bessie, each facing their own romantic ups and downs.
The book dives into the idea that love has a quota—only one out of five people will actually find happiness in love. But even with those odds, the characters learn to embrace love in all its messy glory, showing that the real goal is to love anyway, no matter what happens.
The book has become a cult classic for Filipino bookworms, and now theater fans are finally getting their chance to experience it on stage! Keep an eye on L.A. ProdHouse’s social media for updates and more exciting announcements.
