Queen Dura, Fhukerat, Ernalyn, and Perlas in their Days of Girlhood

There's something profoundly vulnerable yet undeniably empowering about the spectrum of girlhood, especially during those late-night bedroom conversations with your closest friends. It's in these intimate moments, when emotions are raw and truths are laid bare, that the bond between friends becomes unshakable—knitted together through shared stories and experiences in the liminality of a bedroom.

As September draws to a close, Metroscene Mag steps into the sacred spaces of TikTok sensations Queen Dura, Fhukerat, Ernalyn, and Perlas, for a glimpse into their "Days of Girlhood.

In this special feature, we explore how their friendship blossomed online and transcended into something deeply personal, as they develop connections that extend into real life. This is more than just a story—it's a conversation taken from the power, resilience, and transformation found in the days of Girlhood.

Girl, It Can Get So Confusing Sometimes

When we think about girlhood, it brings up feelings of youth, freedom, and even a bit of naivety. Despite all its complexities, there’s a certain beauty in it that transcends gender or societal norms— It has evolved into an experience.

Even online, where girlhood has been memefied, it remains deeply relatable, almost subliminal. It’s a mix of girl power, vulnerability, and shared confusion that touches a certain stage in everyone’s life

In this age where the internet shapes how we navigate the world, life can feel even more confusing, especially when it comes to trust and friendships. But our Metroscene cover stars—Queen Dura, Fhukerat, Ernalyn, and Perlas—fully embrace the full spectrum of girlhood as a journey. Maturing up in front of the camera, their social media fame has led them to a unique experience of girlhood, one that is not without its challenges in the digital age.

"Growing up in the digital age has changed girlhood by giving voices more visibility and facilitating self-expression. But it’s also brought pressures—like the need for affirmation and constant online comparison," Fhukerat shares. "In this environment, friendships become essential. They offer support, encourage authenticity, and help us create a shared sense of identity. Through this, we can celebrate each other's individuality and feel less alone in our experiences," they added.

And it’s true—their friendship, which blossomed online, proves that true connections go beyond just virtual spaces. Their bond is real, both online and in real life.

"Alam naman nating lahat na isa ang social media sa nagkokonekta ng bawat isa kahit ano pa mang distansya. Kapag may problema ako, isang chat o message ko lang sa kanila, ramdam ko na may matatakbuhan ako," says Queen Dura.

What our cover stars—Queen Dura, Fhukerat, Ernalyn, and Perlas—have found is something that makes the world feel a little less confusing, both online and in the real world.

Finding Strength in Vulnerability

The journey of girlhood is not just about shared experiences; it’s also about the strength found in vulnerability. Our September Cover stars have embraced their past traumas and learned to turn them into sources of empowerment. By sharing their stories, they inspire others to confront their struggles, reminding us that vulnerability is a powerful connector.

In an age where social media often showcases only the highlights of life, Queen Dura, Fhukerat, Ernalyn, and Perlas have chosen to be open about their challenges, creating a safe space for authenticity.

“Sobrang laki ng tulong ng mga kaibigan ko na ito dahil sa lahat ng mga masasamang nangyayari sa buhay ko anjan sila lagi para tumulong magbigay ng advice,” Ernalyn reflects.

For these cover stars, embracing vulnerability is a movement against societal expectations that often dictate how girlhood as an experience should look and feel. They challenge the notion that strength is synonymous with perfection. Instead, they celebrate the messy, imperfect journey of growth, reminding us that maturing is not linear.

"Sobrang laking epekto at tulong ng social media to boost my confidence, Lalong lalo ba yung nga Supporters ko na Sobrang positive ng outlook towards life. They inspire me better," says Queen Dura.

Perlas emphasizes, “Social media helped me express myself freely and connect with like-minded people. Initially, I feared judgment and rejection, but my friends encouraged me to be authentic and shared their own vulnerabilities, which boosted my confidence.”

Their friendship embodies this philosophy; it serves as a support system where they uplift one another and foster resilience. Whether it’s through late-night talks or Tiktok live conversations, they lean on each other to navigate the complexities of life.

Days of Girlhood

We’ve all seen glimpses of their lives — whether through content or interviews, they’ve shared so much with the world. They've opened up about their traumas, responses, and growth. But what makes their journey truly impactful is their choice to better themselves, both online and in real life. This is what girlhood is all about: a shared experience of transformation.

As we wrap up Metroscene Mag’s September issue, we invite you to appreciate the beauty of these moments.
