Hoy, bakla! Hoy Didi, brace yourself! The trailer for the pinaka-fabulous superhero animated movie, Zsazsa Zaturnnah Vs. The Amazonistas of Planet X! is finally here!
The impact of Zsazsa Zaturnnah on Filipino pop culture is definitely a cultural reset! As the first LGBT superhero in Asia, Zsazsa shattered stereotypes and became a powerful symbol of hope and progress for the LGBTQIA+ community. But this time, Zsazsa needs our help! Let's join forces with Rocketsheep Studio to bring this groundbreaking project to life and ensure Zsazsa's story continues to inspire!
Rocketsheep Studio has unveiled a brand-new trailer for their upcoming animated film featuring the iconic queer superhero, Zsazsa Zaturnnah! The story, much like the familiar plot from the best-selling graphic novel "Ang Kagila-gilalas na Pakikipagsapalaran ni Zsazsa Zaturnnah" by the brilliant Filipino illustrator Carlo Vergara and the iconic film "Zsazsa Zaturnnah Ze Moveeh" (2006) featuring Zsa Zsa Padilla and BB Gandanghari, starts with Ada, a shy gay hairdresser in a small Philippine town. But things take a wild turn when a magical meteorite zaps Ada, transforming him into the fabulous superheroine, Zsazsa Zaturnnah! Now, Zsazsa must fight off villainous alien Amazonistas, all while dealing with her own personal dramas.
Alongside the trailer, Rocketsheep Studio announced a fundraising campaign to turn this cinematic dream into reality. "We are a small group of Filipino animators making an LGBTQ super hero comedy film. We have spent the past 4 years funding most of this out of our own pockets and have already sold most our internal organs so we now need a bit of help to get it across the finish line"
They cheekily added in one post, "Please help us fund the film so we don't have to sell our kidneys. In return, you get art, comics, and a chance to be in the film as a cartoon extra!"
"Our tiny team has been working on this for the past four years with most of the funding coming out of our own pockets. We have gone to several international film markets and peddled to so many business people who all say the same thing: the project is really cool but the market for it is too niche. LGBTQ culture is still censored in many places in the world. In some countries, it's even literally illegal to be gay. Traditional film investors are scared of backing Zsazsa, so we are turning to you: You are our only hope!," Rocketsheep said in a statement.
