Saan Ako Pinaglihi
The film follows eight-year-old Chinky, raised by two loving mothers. As she navigates her journey of self-discovery, she seeks to understand her origins in a non-traditional family setup. The title, Saan Ako Pinaglihi?, plays on the Filipino superstition of “paglilihi,” often used to describe cravings during pregnancy. Here, it gets a modern twist with a queer perspective.
Created by Rafaela Abucejo, a 23-year-old student from Polytechnic University of the Philippines, this short film brings humor and warmth to the screen. Abucejo’s personal experiences as a sapphic individual shine through, offering genuine representation and advocacy for queer families.
One of the film's highlights is a punchline where Chinky’s classmate questions, “Dalawa pala nanay mo?” to which another child responds, “Eh ano naman kung dalawa nanay niya? Ikaw nga walang tatay, eh!” This snippet is part of the engaging full trailer available on the film's official Facebook page.
