Valorant Introduces Its First Non-Binary Agent!

Riot Games has unveiled its newest agent for Valorant — Scottish troublemaker Clove, who identifies as non-binary!

During the grand finals of Valorant Masters Madrid, Clove was revealed as the game's first nonbinary agent. Described by game developers as a mischievous young immortal, Clove is known for causing chaos for enemies both in the heat of combat and in the heat of death.

This is not the first time that Riot Games released agents who are identified to portray being a member of the LGBTQIAP+ community.

Among them are Raze and Killjoy. Riot Games made a significant move in openly supporting LGBTQIAP+ representation by revealing Raze and KJ as lovers on platforms like Twitter and YouTube. This portrayal affirms Riot's commitment to inclusivity, particularly in showcasing WLW (women loving women) relationships within their cmmunity.

John Goscicki, the agents lead for Valorant, highlighted the team's commitment to inclusivity regarding Clove's gender identity. He emphasized that their goal has always been to represent everyone from their diverse player base, extending beyond just geographical and cultural aspects.

"When creating an agent, we strive to authentically represent a cast of diverse characters that reflect our global player base. This extends beyond just location and culture — Clove’s gender identity, along with their personality and unique gameplay style, is an equally important facet that has helped shape who they are as a Valorant agent," said Goscicki.

Here are the details of Clove's abilities in Valorant:

Ruse - Clove's E ability allows players to open up the map and deploy clouds that obstruct vision in chosen areas. This ability can be recharged and utilized even after Clove's death.

Meddle - Clove's Q ability involves throwing fragments that, upon eruption, temporarily weaken opponents caught in its area of effect.

Pick Me Up - Clove's C ability enables them to absorb the life force of fallen enemies, granting temporary health and hastening their movements.

Not Dead Yet - Clove's Ultimate ability is unique as it triggers upon death. After dying, Clove is resurrected and must secure a kill within a specified time frame, or they will perish again.

Clove is now playable as they were released along with the game's 8.05 patch.
