In her Sundance Film Festival debut, Dolly de Leon made waves with not just one but two stellar performances in "Ghostlight" and "Between the Temples."
Despite being unable to grace the premieres in Utah, courtesy of her commitments to filming the second season of "Nine Perfect Strangers" in Germany, de Leon's screen presence in both films has left an indelible mark and earned her well-deserved positive reviews.
In the comedy-drama "Ghostlight," where she also serves as an executive producer alongside her manager Adam Kersh, de Leon portrays a member of a small Chicago community theater. The film, featuring a cast of amateur actors, led by Keith Kupferer, delivers a poignant and entertaining narrative, transforming it into a notable indie gem.
Meanwhile, in the comedic venture "Between the Temples," de Leon takes on the role of Judith Gottlieb, a Filipina Jewish convert and the stepmother to Jason Schwartzman's character. The film, supported by the formidable talents of Carol Kane and Schwartzman, explores the humorous and heartwarming dynamics between a cantor and his bat mitzvah student.
Despite her absence at the premiere, de Leon's contributions to both films have solidified her presence as a rising star.
More of the Dolly-wood Experience
Last year, Dolly de Leon sealed the deal with CreaZion Studios under FAME Artist Management. While this move might not have been initially mapped out, the decision reflects Dolly's deep-seated passion for and commitment to Philippine cinema, stating, "Now’s the time to be with people who have the same vision, love, and passion for Philippine cinema. And I know I’m in good hands because I am treated not as a product, but as a human being."
While there haven't been any local projects disclosed yet,Dolly de Leon's success in "A Very Good Girl" alongside box-office star Kathryn Bernardo and her involvement in Direk Tonet Jadaone's Prime Video series "Simula sa Gitna" have certainly left a mark. The prospect of seeing Dolly shine once again on the home front is undoubtedly something to look forward to.
