A young mind, a guitar, and an eventual realization are the genesis of BUGS, aka Luis del Rosario’s life-altering step into the music scene.
Growing up with R&B and hip hop influences from artists like Neyo, Chris Brown, and Usher, BUGS always had a passion for music but didn't know how to turn his ideas into reality. That is, until he came across YouTube singers AJ Rafael, Gabe Bondoc, and Jeremy Passion, who inspired him to start creating his own music.
A pivotal moment in BUGS's career came when Kindred Productions offered him an opportunity to develop his talent and mold him into the artist he is today. With Kindred's guidance, BUGS began to release his own music and quickly gained a following.
In a recent interview with Metroscene Mag, BUGS opened up about his journey in music and how he is "trailing his heartbeat" to create music that is true to himself.
A Glimpse Of His Musical Persona
As an artist, BUGS doesn't follow a set plan when creating music. Instead, he lets the rhythm guide him, just like a river's current. Sometimes, he lets his emotions take control of the music. His latest song, "Out of Body," was inspired by a night out where he let go of his worries and enjoyed the moment.
Much like every artist, his music is deeply personal and emotional. He hopes to connect with his listeners by sharing his own experiences and emotions. He is inspired by other musicians, such as Drake, Frank Ocean, Travis Scott, and Kid Cudi. He wants to create music that will last and that will make people feel good. His life is currently focused on music, work, and finding a balance between the two.
Even though the music industry is constantly changing, Bugs sometimes experiences writer's block, which is like being stuck in a creative loop. He sees this as a time to grow and evolve as an artist and to find new inspiration.
To His People And How He Got Here
Bugs has achieved a lot in his music career, including radio and international guesting, Spotify playlist covers, and top spots on playlists. He has also had his tracks featured in drama series. These are just the first steps in his journey to even greater success.
BUGS is grateful for the people who have supported him throughout his journey. These include his friend Kindred, who believed in his talent and encouraged him to pursue his dreams; his friends, who always listened to his music and never complained; and his parents, who have always been proud of him.
His family has been his rock throughout his life. They have always supported his passion for music and have instilled in him the importance of giving his best in everything he does. BUGS is grateful for their unwavering support and knows that he would not be where he is today without them.
BUGS's music is deeply rooted in his experiences and emotions. He hopes to connect with his listeners by sharing his own story and making them feel something. He is driven to create music that will last and that will make people feel good. His family is his biggest inspiration, and he carries their love and support with him wherever he goes.
Every time he gets to sing to a crowd, it is every moment to him that is one for the books, an experience worthy of space in his granary of ecstatic memory. “I think of it as a chance to connect with people. I feel an extra spark when listeners know the words to my song but that’s just the icing on the cake. Seeing people listen while I sing is the best feeling.”
When asked about his piece of advice to emerging artists, he reminded them to keep doing and creating for success does not come in a blink of an eye. It is with work, passion, and grind that he believes would lead to seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. The impermanence of life, with life and death around us, should prompt us to contribute positively in our environment.
“Your art is the voice of your soul. Every note in your melody is a profound conversation to the world. Being an artist, you have the privilege to capture emotions and share something impactful that can transcend reality,” said Luis.
Interestingly, he revealed to us his desire to collaborate with the Kindred boyband, but as we sit and watch in sidelines for it to finally happen, he promised to continue releasing music.
