Inka Magnaye on Having Belly Rolls and Promoting Body Positivity

Recently, the amazing Inka Magnaye, a social media influencer and advocate for body positivity, shared a truly inspiring video on Instagram. In her post, she discussed the beauty of belly rolls and how they are completely normal and nothing to feel ashamed of. It's refreshing to see influencers like Inka promote self-acceptance and challenge societal standards.

"Social media is staged. Don’t compare your reality to someone else’s curation. Nobody is perfect :)” Truly, no BODY is perfect," she captioned the video she shared on her Instagram

In the video, Inka beautifully exemplified this concept by sharing her personal journey. In one photo, she showcased a classic mirror shot with a seemingly flat stomach. However, in a powerful display of self-acceptance, she fearlessly flaunted her belly rolls and folds while sitting on the floor.

In her inspiring message, she emphasized that these posts were mere glimpses behind the scenes, and urged us never to compare our lowest moments with someone else's polished appearances. Her transparency serves as a powerful reminder to embrace our own unique bodies and to celebrate them without shame or comparison.

“Remember that posts on social media are curated highlights, and it's not fair for you to compare your worst to someone's best.”

Inka further explained how having belly rolls is common to all of us, and that we must not shy away from it, to which I strongly agree.

As someone who goes to the gym regularly and has a fair percentage of body fat — I still get to see my belly rolls whenever I’m at a certain position where my abdominals are not flexed at the moment. This usually occurs when I’m on my resting periods in between sets where my body tends to be relaxed and soft, since there is no tension that is happening with muscle fibers while resting. However, when I’m in the mood to take a post-workout selfie, I will flex my abdominals with all my might to make it look hard and toned for the gram. Thus, I can say that this occurrence is normal and that everyone has it too, and it’s okay.

Inka concluded the video with the saying “so I want you to always remember, even if someone who looks like this, they can also look like this too,” reminding everyone that  “no BODY is perfect.”

Thank you Inka for always reminding us about self-love and acceptance with your body positivity contents!
