With June just around the corner, the long-awaited Pride March is within our reach! We’re not only having one, but two Pride Marches, both simultaneously happening on June 24.
Tayo ang Kulayaan
After announcing last March 1 that the Pride March will be on June 24, Metro Manila Pride recently brought to light the event’s theme: “Tayo ang Kulayaan.”
“Ang pride ay protesta para sa ating mga Kulay, para sa ating Kalayaan.Ang pride ay pagdiriwang ng ating mga Kulay, at ng ating Kalayaan, ” captioned Metro Manila Pride on their Instagram post, May 21, 2023.
This year, the annual event focuses on two things: the strength of the diversity within the community and second, the call for LGBTQIA+ community’s rights and safety and their individual struggles that they can overcome together.
Although Metro Manila Pride has yet to announce the venue for their annual event.
Love, Laban!
The second Pride March will be a festival brought by the national coalition of Filipino LGBTQIA+ organizations Pride PH and will take place at the Quezon City Memorial Circle on June 24.
Dahil patuloy na nag-aalab ang laban para sa karapatan, karangalan, kalayaan, at pag-ibig.

Last year, Metro Manila Pride’s celebration was held at the Cultural Center of the Philippines Open Grounds. It was the first in-person post-pandemic event, gathering around 29,000 LGBTQ+ individuals and allies.
Meanwhile, Pride PH’s event was also held at the Quezon City Memorial Circle last year.
The Metro Manila Pride March and Festival — round up a month-long celebration of pride month in June with a series of activities and performances for the LGBTQIA+ community. However, it should also serve as a nudge in the shoulder that Pride does not only end in June. These celebrations and struggles are everyday realities faced by the LGBTQIA+ community, and they should not be dismissed come months following pride month.
