Body shamers are everywhere. It’s weird how some people find satisfaction and joy in tormenting someone else by dragging their confidence down. As for someone like Alexa Ilacad who grew up in the showbiz industry, getting harsh and toxic remarks about her body is not new.
Recently, in her participation in Star Magic’s Hot Summer Lahot Sexy program, Alexa responded to some toxic commenters gracefully as she took them down with her empowering clap backs.
“kaya kami nababastos kasi bastos ka”
It’s infuriating how some people believed that women who are confident in wearing sexy clothes deserved to be disrespected and sexually harassed. One sexist hater commented “Kaya ka nababastos kasi kabastos-bastos pananamit mo.” Alexa straightforwardly responded, “No, kaya kami nababastos kasi bastos ka. Period.” Spot on, Alexa!
Leader in Embracing All Bodies
Nowadays, it's heartening to witness the increasing number of people who are learning about the diverse spectrum of beauty. However, there are some people whose mentality stays in the medieval period. One netizen commented, “mas marami pang naging sakuna ang body positivity kasi sinasabi na okay lang ang maging malnourished at obese.” Alexa hits the bullseye as she responded to this comment, “I guess a lot of people really lack reading comprehension or lack a better understanding of context.” She added, “The people don’t really promote that, ‘oh you should be obese,’ ‘you should be this is how it is now so we’re promoting this.’ It’s not that ‘cause wala sa size, wala sa itsura ang pagiging healthy.” The actress believes that unless you’re that person’s doctor, you have no right to make any comments about other people’s bodies.
Let People Enjoy Things
Alexa released the beast in her after she read a comment saying, “Nag-two piece ka pa eh ang taba taba mo naman.” Unsurprisingly, Alexa has the best reply, “Bakit tayo nangingialam sa isusuot ng ibang tao? ‘Di naman tayo ang nagpapakain sa kanila. Hindi naman tayo ang bumili ng damit nila. Hindi naman ikakasira ng buhay mo kung nag-two-piece sila. So why the violent reactions?”
@rhomercaringal. Ok..... Di wag.. I don't need haters.. Not worth my time. So.. Stop comparing... Wala ka na dapat pake dun..

On Men Wearing Makeup
Without a doubt, Alexa Ilacad is a queen of body positivity. Not only that, but she also supports forward-thinking ideals like men wearing make-up. “2023 na, we now know, accept, and understand that make-up has no gender. In fact, a lot of things have no gender. Tayo lang ang nag lalabel ng mga bagay bagay.” Alexa highlighted that makeup is a form of expression and that men should have the choice to use makeup for their own glow-up. She even adds, “Pera mo, binili mo, do what you want with it.” Here's a cute clip of Alexa putting makeup on his boyfriend.

The Toxic Mentality of “Asking For It”
When asked to share a hateful comment that affected her, Alexa says the worst one was about how individuals are evaluated based on their clothing choices and how they deserve to be harassed as a result. "Yung mga swimsuits ko honestly is always one piece, wala namang kita kasi prefer ko ‘yun. So when I read the comment, I was fuming mad, like, alam niyo ‘yung cartoons na lumalabas sa ears niyo ‘yung hangin at sa nostrils, ganun ‘yung naramdaman ko kasi napaka-toxic, napaka-shallow ‘nung ganung thinking and siya ang bastos!” As for Alexa, people who believes that a woman is “asking for it” because of her choice of clothing are only those “hindi naturuan nang tama.”
No stress+ No problem+ No more bastos = happy Alexa! Yehey! Thanks guys, for the support ang everything else! :D

Be Kinder, The World Needs It
Alexa wrapped it up by leaving an empowering message. "Please be kinder, the world needs it.” Quoting Ariana Grande, “masyado na tayong comfortable in commenting on someone else’s body.” Alexa emphasizes that not everything we see on social media is real, not everything is attainable, and that we should all be more careful about how we make comments about other people's appearances and bodies.
“Let’s try to think kinder thoughts and remember that our body is our vessel. It is our home. It is doing everything it can to keep us alive and that is enough to be thankful for,” she added.
