The rise of AI-generated graphics and images has been the focus of various social media platforms, and people, obviously, have divided thoughts about it. From the AI-generated filters used on TikTok to the Pope’s AI-generated images, the new AI-generated images of the newer and greener Pasig River is the new talk of the town.
Jowee Alviar, the Facebook user and graphic artist who posted the AI-generated images of the Pasig River, gained attention after he posted the images of the river in all its glory. The place looks more pleasant to the eyes of the public, and the scenery is even showing quite a picture of a candid life of people wandering, and by the looks of it, contemplating by the river.
Using Midjourney as the program wherein Alviar has unearthed the new face of the Pasig River, it goes to show that these artificial intelligence programs and services have the power to alter someone’s view and perception of certain things, and in this case: the reimagined Pasig River. Recapping the previous months of emerging AI-generated images, they sure can paint a place afresh.
These AI-generated images took barely an hour to generate as Alviar only typed in the Pasig River and set the mood he deemed to see. And, voila! We now have the full peak of the river, ushered in by the sunset or inhabited by aerobics-filled exercises.

PAREX vs. AI-generated projects
People online couldn’t hide their fascination with the reimagined facade of the river so much that some Facebook users called for the stopping of the PAREX project in the said location. The Pasig Expressway project is expected to establish routes to link roads in Metro Manila and is said to contribute to the efficiency of the transport issue in the country. Looking at the storm from people's viewpoints, they were more delighted by the idea of a reimagined Pasig River.
It seems that the reimagined images of the river posted by Alviar caused them to call for the attention of the city’s mayor and other people involved in the said project.
As nice and fresh as it looks, take note that these AI generated images only exist to feed our desire for a better place, but who’s to say that we cannot achieve such beautiful, romantic, and revitalizing spots? Maybe—and we can only have high hopes for now—we can step foot in a greener Pasig River.
