"Hamilton" Musical Set to Make Asian Premiere in the Philippines



The "Hamilton" craze is about to hit the Philippines as the hit musical makes its Asian premiere later this year. Creator Lin-Manuel Miranda announced the news in a video released by GMG Productions, leaving fans thrilled and eager for more details.

"We've had so many incredible Filipino company members, part of the 'Hamilton' pamilya, all over the world, and now we get to bring the show to your beautiful country very soon. I can't wait for you to see it," Miranda said.



The musical, which tells the story of founding father Alexander Hamilton and his journey through the American Revolution, has been a massive success since its debut in 2015. It has won numerous awards, including 11 Tony Awards, a Pulitzer Prize for Drama, and a Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album. "Hamilton" has also been praised for its diverse cast and its modern take on historical events.

Filipino fans of the musical were left guessing after GMG Productions released a teaser clip of Miranda greeting his fans in the Philippines. Now, the wait is finally over, and fans can mark their calendars for the show's run at The Theatre at Solaire in Parañaque, starting in September.

The announcement of "Hamilton" coming to the Philippines has sparked excitement among theater enthusiasts, with many taking to social media to express their eagerness to see the show. The production company's recent staging of "The Sound of Music" and "We Will Rock You" in Manila has only added to the anticipation.

Rachelle Ann Go, a Filipina actress who played the role of Eliza Schuyler in the West End production of "Hamilton", also won Best Actress at the 2018 BroadwayWorld UK Awards for her performance. Filipino actor Karl Zarate has also been part of the "Hamilton" cast in the Broadway production, adding to the excitement for Filipino fans.

Tickets for "Hamilton" are not yet on sale, but fans can sign up for the waitlist to be notified when they become available. Given the popularity of the musical, it's expected that tickets will sell out quickly.
