Metrobeats vol. 1: The Metroscene top music picks for your playlist

Metrobeats is Metroscene's way of highlighting the finest local music from our radar. Below we've broken down our list of our favorite songs from our favorite local artists from different genres. So whether you're into Hip Hop, House, Indie Rock, Disco, Pop Music, or you have a diverse musical taste, you can find the newest #Metrobeats below.

Aswang by MX Dione ft. Kumareng Harvey

This track might be our most streamed song this week. Aswang by MX Dione ft. Kumareng Harvey is giving a new meaning to "purposeful pop" as it tackles serious political themes, such as the human rights violations that have been rampant during the past years.

What makes it worthy of being part of your playlist is that even with its bouncy beat and infectious chorus, this track successfully conveyed its message.

Dekada '70s by ZILD

ZILD's third album, "Medisina" is definitely a fantastic addition to the indie rock singer's discography. The album has post-punk and alt-indie synth vibes, which brings us to our #Metrobeats pick from the album, "Dekada '70." The track refers to the brutally dark decade of the 1970s, which in the Philippines was defined by martial law instituted by its then-president Ferdinand Marcos.

On the track, ZILD sings about how history repeats itself and that it feels like we're now reliving the' 70s— which we find relatively accurate.

CRY4ME by tome. ft. Trescoda

Our futuristic-indie-pop homeboy, tome. is at it again, and this time his painting the town blue with Trescoda. Tome.'s single, “CRY4ME,” featuring Trescosda is a fine example that our local music is a vibe everyone should get into. Picture a dystopian coming-of-age film scene where the main protagonist is driving through the streets of neon city lights, that's how “CRY4ME” feels.

Pretty Liar by heaven. ft. Kumareng Harvey

If you did not get it from the little, this smooth, synth-pop track by singer-songwriter heaven and Kumareng Harvey is a big f*uck you to all liars!

And to, heaven., darling, we see you, honey, we see you! And TBH, Kumareng Harvey is killing these features! We can't wait to hear more from you two!

HALA by ALAMAT

Well, the members of ALAMAT know how to clap back! Like, literally. There is a lot of clapping that's happening in the background. And we thought it's just very fitting because this track deserves recognition. 'Hala' is the sixth track from Pasulong EP, and it highlights amazing rap verses sung in seven languages.

Jowa by Noah Raquel

"Jowa" is the second of three original releases by TikTok star Noah Raquel. The track is an upbeat and feel-good tune as it embodies a mix of Raquel's chill and cutesy vibe. The track is very catchy on the chorus that you will forget that it's about a guy being ghosted by his lover.
