Twitter space went viral as netizens try to deal with post-election blues

As a lot of people look for something to cope with post-election stress, the Twitter space #MahalAngMagmahal went trending worldwide last May 12, which garnered around 63,000 listeners.

The Twitter space is hosted by a group of Twitter users, where various government officials and notable personalities are being impersonated, such as “VP Leni Labrador” (Vice President Leni Robredo), “President Diggie” (President Rodrigo Duterte), “Mayor Joy joy del Monte” (Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte), “Kuya” (Pinoy Big Brother), “Miss Grande” (Ariana Grande), “Mayor B. Kho Juice” (Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto), and many more.

The Twitter space was also known as the #DogShow, after a recorded clip from the first Twitter space #RosasSaDilim went viral on Twitter and TikTok, where impersonators of Pres. Duterte and VP Robredo exchange friendly teasing remarks. There were also notable exchanges of jokes in the space that hit a variety of current social issues in the country.

We all do know that VP Robredo is one of the critics of Duterte’s administration, particularly the debated response concerning the on-going pandemic. But what made this twitter space more entertaining was when “President Diggie” sang famous campaign songs like, “KAY LENI TAYO!” and Gab Valenciano’s, “Ang Presidente Bise Presidente.”

The space is hosted by Twitter users @AltStarMagic and @FACTbuddyMoTo. It was organized after the 2022 elections, as the hosts wanted to create a space where they can help people to relax their minds from anxiety brought by the partial results of the 2022 presidential elections.

However, as they say, you can't really have it all. As the Twitter space went viral and praised the flawless impressions of the speakers, a concerning issue relating to one of the impersonators came up, after a Twitter user stated that the person behind the voice of “President Diggie” is known for being a red-tagger and pro-federalism.

Regarding the issue, the twitter space host made sure that they are verifying everything, and they are taking actions.

“Guys regarding the issue, we're verifying all helpful information regarding that. We appreciate everyone for your concern and rest assured that we do not tolerate any action geared towards hurting anyone. We'll make sure to address those issues. Salamat po,” Twitter space host and organizer @AltStarMagic wrote on their tweet.
