We got hooked reading it and couldn’t put the book down and find ourselves flipping on each and every page as the story unfolds. By the end we didn’t even want ‘It Ends With Us’ to end. We were in and out of love; our hearts broke, and a man named Atlas flipped our life upside down.
This narrative is so relatable that knowing it's part of Colleen's own journey further added to the magic. We believe Colleen stepped outside of her comfort zone when she wrote it. She has written emotional books before (Ugly love, November 9, Confess and more) but Hoover said she has always been writing for entertainment purposes only but this one hits different as it was the most grueling thing she have ever written and write something realistic that her mother and a lot of women find themselves in.
This novel, on the other hand, had a different vibe but was equally memorable. It Ends with Us took us to a new level of passionate intensity that rendered us dumbfounded. With that stated, It Ends with Us isn't always an easy read, but it's a narrative that begged to be told. Colleen's writing experience may have been therapeutic and soul cleaning in some ways but it surely sent out the message the book is craving for.
What we also loved about this book are the lines that give us straight to our feels.
“Every incident chips away at your limit. Everytime you choose to stay, it makes the next time that much harder to leave”
“Cycles exist because they are excruciating to break. It takes an astronomical amount of pain and courage to disrupt a familiar pattern”
We can't say anything about this book without giving too much away. That is something we will not take away from you. You must read this novel in order to fully appreciate Colleen's honest feelings. You don't want to miss out on all of the emotions in one of the year's best books.
We even saw Kathryn Bernardo post about it on her socials ugly crying with Ria Atayde and Hoover, herself left a comment on Kathryn’s post and even reposted it! - Talk about a major fangirling moment!
Thanks to Alora Sasam’s online bookshop on instagram (@Books2Go.ph), even Cassy Legaspi splurged on books and recently got her hand on it and we can’t blame her for it!
