These 3 P-Pop girl groups are changing the local pop culture

Among the emergence of new artists and performers, these influential P-pop groups have laid the groundwork for P-pop domination.

BINI

With the goal to represent young, modern Filipinas both in the P-pop industry and around the world, BINI entered the local music scene prepared and geared up.

The 8-member girl group composed of Aiah, Colet, Maloi, Gwen, Stacey, Mikha, Jhoanna, and Sheena were brought together by ABS-CBN’s Star Hunt Academy after they stood out and thrived among over 250 young aspirants.

BINI first caught the attention of their now growing fanbase Bloom, after becoming viral with their first live performance on “It’s Showtime!” in November last year. They wowed the audience as they sang and danced to their pre-debut single, “Da Coconut Nut” which was an electro-pop rendition of the iconic Smokey Mountain hit. The song’s official music video also has 1.6 million views on YouTube, and counting.

They also secured their place in the P-pop industry when they launched their debut single, “Born to Win” last June. True to their core, the empowering track speaks a lot about a daring and driven Filipina who conquers her challenges and goes for her goals.

Individually, they are full of passion and potential. Together, they are phenomenal. Undoubtedly, they are born to win.

MNL48

MNL48, the sister group of AKB48 from Japan, started their idol journey in 2018 when they auditioned for a nationwide search of 15-20 years old idol hopefuls televised on the noontime show, "It’s Showtime!". From 200 qualified participants, 48 multi-talented girls survived to officially form MNL48’s First Generation.

Over the course of three generations since their debut, MNL48 has been joined by a lot of young and inspiring girls from all over the country with the hopes of taking over the P-pop industry. Their individual talents, colorful outfits, and overall stage presence, will surely captivate your attention.

From the sweet and bubbly "Pag-Ibig Fortune Cookie" rendition, the “Ikaw Ang Melody” song showcasing Filipiniana as their costume in the music video, to the upbeat and fierce tracks like “High Tension” and “River”, there is no question that these teen Filipina idols belong to the top. They also released their first-ever original song “Hash Love” in December last year.

PPop Generation

Consisting of 45 all-girl members handled by Viva Entertainment, it looks like P-pop Generation has many things in store for us.

In order to be one of the promising pop groups in the country and in Asia, the girl group have been practicing and improving their skills through multiple dance workshops with Ms. Geleen Eugenio as well as voice training sessions with coaches Sushi Reyes and Zeb Zuniga.

Since their debut in 2019, they have released songs like "Ikaw at Ako," "Boom Ganda," "Wrapped Around My Finger,” and "Hanap-Hanap".
