Low on motivation? These movies will surely help you turn your life around

To some of us, life hasn’t been particularly kind. Due to painful memories like unloving parents, an unaccepting society, or plain bad luck, we’ve made mistakes, been terrible to our loved ones, and even became the person we hated the most. As we face one setback after another, we eventually find ourselves irredeemable at rock bottom.

But know that it’s never too late to change. The characters from these 5 movies sure have found themselves redeemed. With these 5 movies, remind yourself of what you can still achieve despite your imperfections:

Groundhog Day (1993)

Self-centered, and unhappy while covering a small town’s celebration of a groundhog, reporter Phil Collins finds himself in a time-loop of the boring day he just experienced. After many times using the repeats for self-serving purposes, Phil eventually has a change of heart and uses them as an opportunity to truly know others and help them in times of need. Phil shows us that by choosing to make others happy, we too, will find our own happiness.

Return of the Jedi (1983)

After learning from the two last-known Jedi, Luke Skywalker is now on a quest to not just destroy the Emperor’s newest weapon, but to also free his apprentice, as well as his father, Darth Vader. In the end, the Jedi within Vader returns, and chooses to sacrifice his own life to betray the Emperor, and save his son. Darth Vader, later back as Anakin Skywalker, shows us that our better nature can still triumph over our dark side.

Shrek (2001)

Hated and feared, Shrek the ogre just wants to live a quiet, apathetic, and solitary life in his swamp. However, as he finds himself travelling with a talkative donkey and an adventurous princess, Shrek realizes that life is not meant to be lived alone. Shrek’s journey shows us that despite what the world has shown us, we should still believe that there are good people out there, and not close our doors on them.

Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy (2004)

Along with his reporters at KVWN Channel 4, egotistical and famous anchorman Ron Burgundy’s status is challenged when female reporter, Veronica Corningstone, becomes part of the news team. After an accident caused by Ron’s reckless behavior forces Veronica to take over as anchorman, his pride, and sexist behavior overtakes him---leading him and his new colleague to have a fall-out, and Ron being fired from his job. Ron shows us that by giving in to pride, we lose the important relationships we have in our lives.

Iron Man (2008)

Genius, egomaniac, and a notorious arms dealer, Tony Stark’s life changes forever after terrorists capture and force him to build a weapon that can destroy nations. Seeing how his selfish actions cost him his heart, killed his friend, and endanger the world, Tony dons a high-tech suit of armor and becomes the superhero, Iron Man. Tony’s journey shows us that heroes can come even from the worst of people.
