“Bitin! We deserve better!”
This is the theme of the inaugural IKLI: Super Short Film Festival recently launched by Ticket2Me, in partnership with the Movement for Good Governance (MGG), YouthLed, and YouthVote Philippines. The country’s first super short film festival aims to draw attention to (in an entertaining but enlightening way) the many stories that can help convince Filipinos all over the world that we deserve better: better government, better healthcare, better education, better livelihoods, better transportation—even better love lives!
We want to provide a creative space where people can utilize the power of film as a medium, to express their thoughts, needs and opinions and participate in relevant social issues. The goal is to cull out a collective voice and form connectivity in the era of social distancing and community quarantine,” said Ticket2Me CEO Julie Anne Bautista, adding: “May this festival empower our fellow Filipinos to continue seeking out what they truly deserve and tirelessly promote freedom of speech and participative citizenship.”
IKLI is inspired by other microfilm festivals around the world and features three categories: micro-short (60 seconds or less) films, mini short (between 1:00–2:20) films, and short (between 2:21–5:00) films. The festival is open to all Filipino filmmakers and content creators, both professional and amateur. Production grants await qualified creators and their pitches.
The winning entries across all categories will premiere at IKLI: Super Short Film Festival. Awards for the best film chosen by a jury and a fan favorite film chosen by fans’ engagement will also be given away per category.
