These local zines are worth the read, and here's where you can get them

There is no shortage of creativity these days on Instagram. Not only has it been a platform for showcasing different works of art, but it has also become an online marketplace of sorts. From digital portraits to colorful prints to artsy mugs, you can find it all on Instagram lately. It’s no surprise then that zines too are being sold on the social media platform.

If you happen to be looking for something new to read or you need a new zine or two to add to your growing collection, here are the Instagram accounts you can check out when you want to buy some zines:

a_library

a_library is your one-stop shop if you’re on the hunt for zines and prints. Some of the zines you can find in their catalog include a collection of photos shot in San Juan, La Union called Surftown by Matt Carpio and Manganen, a recipe/illustration zine by Lylet Soliven.

Makò Micro-Press

Makò Micro-Press describes itself as a micro, self-publishing press focused on creating and sustaining counter-hegemonic cultures through their zines and artworks. Their zines include Sin Ku Wenta, a play on the word that means “fifty” in English but “nothing” in Spanish, and Buhay ay Kaunlaran, which you can easily mistake for a paper wallet, but is actually a zine that challenges preconceived notions on what progress is.

To buy their zines, head to their official website or Instagram
