The contestants are already in Hollywood prior to the competition to quarantine, and the first and one of the most awaited activities of the competition is about to kick-off!
One of the most exciting events of the pageant—aside from the long gown and Q and A portion— the national costume show is really one to look out for this year. It does not only make the pagent more interesting but also uplift the spirit of competing countries as their contestants display an authentic costume that best represents the culture and ethnicity.
Philippines National Costume
Last year, Miss Philippines Gazini Ganados won the costume competition in this silver dress, which featured matching bird accessories design by Filipino designer Cary Santiago.
This year, our Miss Philippines, Rabiya Mateo, will be once again dressed by Filipino fashion designers for Miss Universe, and it's going to be one stylish affair for Filipino pageant fans. Though her national costume hasn't been revealed, Miss Universe Philippines (MUP) creative director Jonas Gaffud confirmed that the Rabiya will be wearing pieces from the fashion houses of Furne One and the late designer Rocky Gathercole.
Metroscene Mag compiled some of the costumes to be shown during the competition. Click through our slide show and let us know what country is your favorite.
