Emma Stone’s punk rock Cruella De Vil is Joker-esquely brilliant

Over a year since the first image of Emma Stone as Cruella hit the internet, Disney has finally released the poster and trailer for the live-action prequel story of the puppy napper we know.

In the trailer's voiceover, Stone's raspy accent can be heard saying, "I am woman. Hear me roar." Definetly something Disney fans will remember from the iconic 101 Dalmatians villain, Cruella de Vil.

The eerie, "Joker"-Esque preview sees Stone's titular character, originally named Estella in the streets of 1970s London when she was an aspiring punk designer — and a scammer — trying to gets ociety's wealthiest people to take notice of her and her designs. We will now get to know her life before becoming the puppy-obsessed designer we grew to know.

Cruella is directed by Craig Gillespie (I, Tonya) and co-stars Emma Thompson, Joel Fry, Paul Walter Hauser, Emily Beecham and Mark Strong. The movie opens in theaters May 28.
