Quezon City is jam-packed with local parks you can go to for hangouts or dates. Quezon Memorial Circle, NA Parks & Wildlife, is just around the corner. But according to a report from GMA News, the highest number of single people in Metro Manila, with an estimated 1.1M individuals, are from Quezon City.
PSA in a February 2020 report, said that there are 34.8 million singles or unmarried individuals which accounts for 44% of the total population ten years old and above. Wow! ang dami natin!?
The art of being happily single
Professor Nimfa Ogena of the UP Population Institute explains that many young people choose to be single, despite all the clamor on social media.
"It's not really a disadvantage, and it's probably a change in perception." She also notes that most single people are more likely to attain life chances than most people in a relationship. Let's say, finishing higher levels of education or finding good jobs with great pay— these allow them to choose to grow on their own.
Being single is not bad at all. If you prefer your own company, or recovering from a breakup and need some time to regroup yourself? It's okay! There are so many reasons why people choose to stay single.
As my friends always say: Do whatever makes you happy!
