Here's how to survive an apocalypse, according to Alice in Borderland

We don't know what kind of rock you've been living under the past few weeks if you haven't seen or even heard of Alice in Borderland. One of Netflix's most popular shows of 2020, Alice in Borderland blends different elements of games, survival, and, of course, Alice in Wonderland in eight suspenseful, thrilling episodes.

For the uninitiated, the story begins with Arisu (Kento Yamazaki) and his best friends, Chota (Yuki Morinaga) and Karube (Keita Machida), who suddenly find themselves in an abandoned Tokyo. They eventually learn that they have to participate in different risky, often violent games just to survive.

While we can't expect Manila (or any other city in the country for that matter) to just empty out all of a sudden, Alice in Borderland sure does give us pretty helpful pointers on how to survive an apocalypse. So here are the dos and don'ts of surviving an apocalypse as seen in Alice in Borderland!

Spoilers ahead. You've been warned.

The Dos

Do keep your friends close and your enemies closer

Friendship got Arisu, Chota, and Karube through many of the games and, ultimately, kept Arisu alive. But this is an apocalypse, ladies and gents—a game of survival. Just as how Aguni (Sho Aoyagi) tried to keep Hatter's (Nobuaki Kaneko) enemies in a line, you have to keep an eye out for those you can't trust.

Do use your skills and talents even if they seem useless at first

Arisu is a NEET, which is an acronym for Not in Education, Employment, or Training. He's unemployed, plays games all day, and is far different from his best friends. But it's his gaming skills that have saved his life and again.

The Don'ts

Don't overthink

If you somehow felt foolish at the end of episode 4, trust us. You aren't the only one. Sometimes, what you have to do is actually simple, and the answers you're searching for are right under your nose.

Don't trust too easily

Trusting Chishiya (Nijiro Murakami) and Kuina (Aya Asahina) proved to be almost fatal for Arisu in episode 6. While there really is strength in numbers, don't forget that people can betray you in the blink of an eye.

Don't give up

Don't lose hope. Don't lose the will to keep going. Once you do, it's game over.
