It’s a sad day for the LGBTQ+ community as Cubao’s famous bar, Today x Future announced its closure.
For almost 12 years, the bar has become safe place very dear to every people who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, asexual, and other sexual orientations and gender identities.
In a heartfelt Instagram post, the bar shared their gratitude for the community, “Thank you to all our promoters, our performers, our tireless staff and all our regulars, old and new. You have made our tiny abode the warmest, most nurturing nursery it can be.”

Today x Future is closing.
After long days and nights of deliberation, wrestling options and way too much alcohol to cushion the emotion, we are left with the decision to say farewell.
We would have turned 12 years old but alas, the uncertainty has made it incredibly difficult. However, this isn’t a statement about sorrow and regrets and wishing things would have been different. This is a love letter—a love letter to all of you who have kept our Future shining bright for over a decade.
We don’t know what the future holds but we hold on to all the unforgettable memories. We’ll always remember them fondly, from the loud, endless singalongs and sardinas sayawan to the quiet moments when we realise how much we all mean to each other.
Thank you to all our promoters, our performers, our tireless staff and all our regulars, old and new. You have made our tiny abode the warmest, most nurturing nursery it can be.
As we close another chapter, we keep one open. Futur:st, our baby sibling in Poblacion will remain open as long as we can keep it that way. In the coming weeks, we will be announcing plans to welcome you back there in another shape and form, and we hope you can continue to support us and make it your second home.
We may not be able to throw Today x Future the closing party it truly deserved but we are throwing one last hurrah on June 27, with our online Pride celebration. More details to be announced in the coming days!
What is coming is better than what is gone? Who knows? Perhaps we’ll see you again in the near future ❤
We love you. We thank you. We will miss you.
As the nightclub closed its curtains, avid goers took to social media to share how Today x Future has become part of their lives.
this was my last set in @TodayxFuture before the lockdown. some friends and I joke that every time we’re there, the kids keep getting younger, but I’m very grateful that my home has evolved and blossomed into something that they can call home too. 🏠 #KwentongTxF pic.twitter.com/a1fHXlMEPu— Belle (@littleboondock) June 18, 2020
What I'm gonna miss about TxF the most are the conversations with regulars. Topics range from shallow gossip to art, politics, music, and science. Iba yung crowd talaga and I doubt any other gay venue in Metro Manila can boast of such patrons. #KwentongTxF— DJ DEMOONYO (@Punongbayan_) June 18, 2020
I found comfort. I found refuge. I found friends and family. But ultimately, I found myself. #KwentongTxF pic.twitter.com/OMbed9dsKv— B (@bahmita) June 18, 2020
today x future is where i first met probably my biggest idol ever and i’m hella proud to share that as my #KwentongTxF pic.twitter.com/sgIYUQsRYI— TOM ARVEEN (@tomflordeliza) June 18, 2020
Naging safe space ng marami ang Future. Myself included. Mas naging in-touch ako with my ~feminine~ side because of TxF. Sa TxF pinanganak si Miss Mildred. 😔#KwentongTxF pic.twitter.com/LfXm8ZSvpd— #JunkTerrorBillNOW (@ReddieFerdie) June 18, 2020
There aren't really that many safe spaces for queer people in Manila. TxF was one those few places. Thank you for all the memories, @TodayxFuture 😭😭😭 See you in the future. pic.twitter.com/3GUNmCfVBr— jed🏳️🌈✊🏾 (@dedtulabs) June 18, 2020
