Remember that “kilig” you got from Rainbow Rowell’s Eleanor & Park? Well, hold on to your hearts once again, because a movie based on the best-selling young adult novel is officially in the works!
Picturestart has acquired the film rights to Rainbow Rowell's debut novel and will be producing alongside Plan B that has movies like ‘World War Z,’ ‘Selma’ and ‘Moonlight’ in its portfolio.
“This book is very close to my heart, and I’ve always felt very cautious about adapting it,” Rowell said about the news. “But everyone at Picturestart and Plan B has so much respect for the story and the characters. I really feel like I couldn’t have found a better group of people to trust with Park and Eleanor — and I can’t wait to see this project come to life.”
Rowell will be part of the production as well. She’s been tapped to write the movie’s script and will receive an executive producer credit.
In Case You Missed It
Eleanor & Park follows the story of two misfit teenagers living in Nebraska who meet one day at a school bus. Their friendship gradually evolves through comic books and mixtapes, until they both fall head over heels for each other despite all odds. Eleanor & Park was Rowell’s second (and arguably best) novel. It was followed by the equally great Fangirl.
