Apparently, Manila Bay's turquoise color is caused by algal blooms

Have you seen the pictures of the "clean" Manila bay circulating online? Nice right?

Sorry to burst everyone's bubbles but Manila Bay is not yet healing. The seemingly vibrant turquoise color is actually an annual occurrence of harmful algal blooms since 1988.

The same phenomenon also happened March of 2014, wherein Manila Bay also showed a similar discoloration event that was accompanied by fish kill.

We get it! It's nice to think that mother earth is already healing from humanity's dreadful activities. But the sad truth is it a week or even a decade is not enough to restore Manila Bay to its former glory.
